While we have spent a lot of time on motorbikes in our two and a half years together, we have never done anything even close to this adventure. The longest trip we've done prior to this is a road trip around Victoria with Tom's parents, covering just over 2500km with Lucy riding pillion on the high, thinly clad seat of a Honda sports bike. Despite being in very close quarters with the 'in-laws', very questionable weather and a rather uncomfortable ride we still had one hell of a time. So this journey should be a walk in the park, right?

We've also ridden a 125cc moped over the hills of Thailand (resulting in a puncture and failing breaks on a very steep 'road' back to the nearest town), crawled through the craziest traffic we've ever seen in Bali and done some very peaceful pottering through Malaysian jungle. But we're very aware that no amount of motorbike day trips and mini-breaks can prepare us for the adventure to come.
